The Hobbit

Okay, time for a little review.
Ill start off with a little description for those who arent aware of what it's about. The hobbit is the prequel to my all time favourite film series, Lord of the rings. Set 60 years before the LOTR trilogy.
Although it is the prequel to the trilogy it tells an altogether different story with only a handful of characters (such as gandalf and golem) and referances to the trilogy, as well as being set in the same region, Middle Earth.I went to see it in HFR 3D, which means high frame rate. 48fps rather than the industry standard of 24fps. Not a big fan of 3D really but i wanted to experience it to see if the HFR would improve the classic 3D moving image blur. The results were impressive, the film seemed alot smoother and the 3D alot more impressive.
Now for the film itself. First things first, if you watch his film, you have to dissociate it from Lord Of The Rings or you will be disappointed, as i was for the first half. Dont expect it to be like Lord of the Rings. It isnt. It isnt consistant with what you see in the trilogy.
It also helps to not read the book before or youll just notice the inconsistancies between that too. However i suppose the same could be said about alot of films that are based on books. As soon as i learned to treat it as a separate trilogy (which it will be as there are 2 more films to come) i really enjoyed it, they really tried to twist the story to make it funny and it worked. Alot of laughter from all around the cinema.
It goes quite in depth as there are 3 films all for quite a small book yet i noticed bits had been left out and even stories being added in.The worst thing about the film over everything though is that i now have to wait 12 months for the second film and another 6 months after for the trilogy to be complete.
8.5/10
